South Bend News-Times Feb 10 1915 publishes these photos. They show the Nimrod, a ship from Shackleton's Nimrod Expedition, 1907–1909. Paper says they received Nov 30 1914 dispatch from South Georgia. In Feb 1915 Shackleton's ship Endurance was stuck in the Antarctic ice

Shackleton Will Be Back in 1916 LONDON'. A dispatch from Lieut. Shackleton dated South Georgia, Nov 30. has been received here wherein he explains why he delayed his start across the Antarctic Ice pack. He said he learned the pack was further south than it had been for years, so he decided It would be useless to try to get through this season. Consequently the expedition need not be expected back until some time in March, 1916. The explorer reports his crew and dogs are in fine condition. The greatest athlete of all time = #Ernest_Shackleton. His epic odyssey and survival against all odds is why I consider him such.

The most astounding thing however, is the saga of almost unbelievable hardships that her crew endured before being rescued on Elephant Island four months later with no hands lost after her Captain, Frank Worsley, Sir Ernest Shackleton, the ships carpenter, and three others embarked on an incredible, and virtually impossible voyage in one of the ship's hastily rigged, tiny 22' whaleboats to seek help at the whaling station on Chile's South Georgia Island.
