Loudoun County's Sheriff Chapman is working closely with ICE to support the 287(g) agreement which supports detainment, extended detention, and transfer to ICE of our immigrant community neighbors. Additionally, Under Sheriff Chapman's command, there has been a 400% increase in traffic stops for the Latino community during the last 12 months.
Given all of the many illegal abuses of power by ICE and the Sheriff's responsibility for racial profiling, this calls for action on our part!
We specifically demand;
- The Loudoun County Sheriff forthwith cease all 287(g) collaboration with ICE and desist from discriminatory policing practices.
- ICE agents identify themselves through a badge and uniform.
- Local law enforcement resources stay within the community, not outsourced to ICE.
If you can't get there right at 4:30pm, come when you can.
The protest will include a speaker and will be carried out on the sidewalks in front of the Sheriff's Admin Building, 803 Sycolin Road SE in Leesburg, the location of Sheriff Chapman's office. As always, this will be a peaceful, non-violent protest, bring your signs, American flags, and a spirited voice to raise!
