Headlines tell me that NYT (and Post) editors don't appreciate freedom from arbitrary royal rule
Trump memo expands his authority? No it didn't
Commander-in-chief *over policies*? No

As many other French editors were, Bernard Grasset was condemned for the crime of "national indignity." To excuse himself, he declared in 1948:
"I published lies. And I lied because it was in my interest to lie."
No one has ever been that honest before or after.

They won’t do this because the owner, publisher, and senior editors all like Trump and actually want him to rule like a king.

Your network is SO important. Every job I have done over the past years has come through fellow editors or clients I have a strong working relationship with. Never forget that this is a "people" business first & foremost. My new full time gig came about through my network, not a job post #postchat

Moscow’s $376-B Crypto Milestone Puts Russia Ahead Of Europe
Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure According to Chainalysis, Russia received over $376 billion in on-chain crypto transfers between July 2024 and June 2025, ahead of the United Kingdom’s $273 billion. That metric measures value moved into wallets and addresses tied to Russia during the 12-month window. Based on reports, the figure was driven by a mix of very large transfers, rising DeFi activity, and growing use of rouble-linked stablecoins.

*are IMO written
Most of the editors (those with special powers) belong to the first category. Can be very knowledgeable, but can't spot abuse by academics of wikipedia pages, because it needs one to be able to pick up on insider signs. If they did, most such edits would be shot down immediately.

These authors are fighting tooth and nail for their work to get out there. And it’s incredible work that challenges the literary structures right now not willing to take risks.
That alone is catnip for editors and yet!
Kudos to the verge for getting this. They got the best writer to do it, too.

The first thing I did when I saw this story was share it and then immediately tell @taliabhatt.itch.io how happy I was it got published. I’ve pitched this story before to CRICKETS. With how big it’s resonated here I hope editors realize the hunger there is for trans stories to be told. Please.
Y’all should read @taliabhatt.itch.io’s Verge article on trans indie publishing challenges.
It’s fucking great, y’all. (The article. Not the trans indie publishing challenges 😭)

2025 Lexus RX 500h F Sport: Review, Prices, and Specs
Compared to M-performance versions of BMW vehicles, and AMG Mercedes-Benz models, The RX 500h is less canyon carver or straight-line muscle machine, and more grand tourer; it rides better than many of those caffeinated crossovers, and is less expensive. Lexus has struck a fine balance of sporty feel and serious luxury that premium-crossover shoppers will appreciate. The RX 500h F Sport Performance is not a compromise, but an alternative to premium crossovers that may be a little too sporty.

By the way, important to recognize that Michael Schmidt wrote both these pieces and it’s not crazy to think his line today was directed at his own editors as much as anyone else
The New York Times today: "Many of the stark warnings ... - which were issued loudly during the presidential campaign by the people who had once sought to restrain the president - have proved true."
The New York Times when those warnings were issued: "Put it on A12"

Inexperienced editors can definitely make that mistake. I made edits like that when I first started out as an intern (thankfully only my supervisor saw them and not the authors, haha). I eventually learned preserving the writer's voice is key.
