SNK is pushing Art of Fighting 3 and drawing in a few players. This is cool but weird.. I am somewhat motivated to replay it.

Also, I have always found AOF2 to be the better game. Im still salty Japan got an SNES port, and the West didn't. I still remember that EGM article talking about it. 🥲

Reading through old EGMs and came across the infamous quote from Bernie Stolar in the September 1997 issue (left).

Cut to the EGM Buyer's Guide a few months later (right), and he is more optimistic about Saturn's potential for 1998 and beyond - "unstopped potential."
"EGM: So is the Saturn riding out its lifespan for the time being?" "BS: Saturn's not our future. As a company, we believe that we will take the leadership role on the hardware side, as well as software side, and it's only a matter of time. It's like CBS going from third to first." "The company line" from EGM as they interview the heads of each console manufacture and get some quotes from them. This one is Bernard 'Bernie' Stolar's COO of Sega of America. "There is unstopped potential in the Saturn that the '98 lineup will take advantage of."

Igual que las radios, los periódicos y los anunciantes dan por buenos los datos del EGM que elabora la AIMC.

Yeah that EGM compendium did gangbusters. I imagine a NP one would sell exponentially more.

Even if they just compiled the first 100 issues into something, that’s what many people have the most nostalgia for (though the later Future run was also great!)

You never know with Nintendo!

An EGM is being held on Sunday I believe. If they don't appoint three new Trustees then the decision will be taken to wind the club up.

Reall worrying. It's prime real estate despite how close the site is to the railway.

Therefore, it's time to crown a new Gaming Babe O' the Year, and she is none other than Final Fantasy VII's buxom beauty, Tifa Lockheart. Created by FFVII character designer Tetsuya Nomura (wait till you see his Paradise Eve women good Lord!), Tifa's got it all. She looks great (she's as well-proportioned as they come), she's incredibly strong (her Limit Breaks can be devastating), and she's got a sensitive side as well (she stood by Cloud when he was reduced to a frothing vegetable-would your woman do that for you? We doubt it...). She may not be as "all over the place" as Lara Croft is (did someone say U2 tour?), but she's still got what it takes to motivate the EGM staff on those lonely deadline nights (err, make of that what you will...), and in the end, that's what really counts. Coming in second was former star of the hit game D Enemy Zero's stunning Laura Lewis. Sega's new virtual star (whose voice will be done by Luscious Jackson's lead singer) may not be as hot as Tifa, but no other rendered CG babe has such an amazingly lifelike appearance. The fact that she was nude in the Japanese version of Enemy Zero didn't sway our vote at all, honest."

When I was a teenager with my Mega Drive, it was kinda cool picking up copies of EGM and Game Pro from a local newsagents. Seeing American magazines covering games we might not get for months in the UK, if at all.

But the reviews in them? Poor. Single paragraph bits from multiple writers. /1
