Duckdb inet extension supports subnet operations now!! I am unreasonably excited about this🎅

inet Extension
The inet extension defines the INET data type for storing IPv4 and IPv6 Internet addresses. It supports the CIDR notation for subnet masks (e.g., 198.51.100.0/22, 2001:db8:3c4d::/48). Installing and L...

DuckDB just added native write support to OneLake. It is still early, and for now it only works through the blob API, There is no Delta write yet, but it is a very exciting first step.

This is the most exciting time ever to be working in data, and I'm not talking about AI.

3 years ago, I wrote a database-centric guide in my book for analyzing the full 92 million record 1910 Census.

Now, with #rstats and @duckdb?

Analyze those 92 million rows in seconds.

DuckDBのIceberg extensionが1.4.0でINSERTに対応、1.4.2でUPDATE/DELETEにも対応。従来は限定的なSELECTだけ対応だったので大きな飛躍だ。わいわい。

I highly recommend using r2u to build R packages in GitHub Actions, especially DuckDB, if you are using packages on CRAN! It saves SO much time installing packages on Linux and works with GitHub Actions.

🪐 Cosmograph 2.0 is finally here after two years of development!

Work with larger datasets, use SQL, open Parquet files, save & share your graphs, integrate with Python or React, ...

All thanks to open source tools like WASM DuckDB, Mosaic, SQLRooms and our cosmos.gl

Yes I believe that's how it works but I haven't investigated. Most of my GitHub Actions are to pull from public data sets. The only time package versions have become an issue has been with DuckDB and ragnar updates.

Has anybody tried loading the Atmosphere into column stores like DuckDB or Clickhouse? Esp social graphs or backlinks?

Column stores have an advantage with compression on the primary sort keys, and I'm curious how it compares against special-built indexes like Jaz's roaring bitmaps

This is one of those situations where I spend a bunch of time cultivating a network of folks whose opinions I trust + who are trustworthy.

For example, when Astral launched uv, even though it was super early, I used it in prod.

When Josh Willis launched dbt-duckdb, instant trust
