#Drought
Ranchers grew their cattle on grass. Now the standard model is to sell calves, and they go to a feedlot and get raised on corn instead. And the input cost for those feedlots is now increasing and so THEY are buying less and that in combine with drought is causing people to reduce herd sizes.

Ranchers are dealing with drought and as a result of that plus less undocumented workers, more input costs. It cost more to get a truck to take your cattle to the feedyard. It cost the feedyard more to buy corn because corn farmers also dealing with drought and increased labor costs, etc.

Appreciated and thank you for the repost.

I wanted to try an environmental impact piece with that little touch of horror. Like imagining the earth as a body of a person and what increased drought and soil erosion would feel like. I think I accomplished that, but perhaps I need to do more of them 🤔

I lived in Brisbane during the millenium drought. Every one had to stop watering their lawns. The lawn grew back when the rains came. I still have a small lawn, it’s never watered and mowed when necessary with an electric mower

“Santiago de Cuba, the island’s second-largest city, is facing the worst drought reported in 10 years, which is currently affecting more than half-a-million people. Its residents only get running water every 38 days, while some communities in Eastern Cuba have been without it for about five months.”

Due to climate change, plants increasingly face abiotic stresses such as heat and drought. Genetically engineering plants to be more resilient (smart crops) could help mitigate this agricultural burden.🌱

Right, it’s crazytown for natural resources. In addition to
ridiculous power supply, data centers like this need a ridiculous water supply. Texas has a grid that quits whenever, and experiences chronic drought.
Open AI is currently building a data center in Texas that will require roughly the equivalent of the power the Hoover Dam produces to operate.

Last week the Whitehouse killed a renewable energy project that was going to produce as much powers as three Hoover Dams.

None of this makes any sense.

Currently analyzing QSM models of declining beech trees in northern Bavaria. Despite more favorable conditions in recent years, many continue to deteriorate due to the long-term impacts of severe drought stress. Fascinating to see how the structure reveals their struggle.

In addition to the questionable symbolism, it seems odd to commission a triumphal arch amidst such a severe drought of triumphs for his administration. I would fully support a garden of zanes in a few years, though.

Let’s remember, Oz is a country where BJ can “spend” $675,000 in expenses - no receipts - but less than three weeks on the ground while ‘drought envoy’

& he texted through his report!

No debate, no transparency, no resolution

We’re led by the corrupt & the greedy
