Please stop living in denial. The U.S. is presently being led by an authoritarian regime. People being dragged off the street and disappeared is what dictators do, not democracies.

How and why did police in liberal democracies become militarized? Drawing on colonial history, our video of the week shows how methods honed during empire were imported into domestic policing through an “imperial boomerang.”

When factories of lies and disinformation thrive, the integrity of our information space is a matter of national security.
Our democracies rest on independent media.
We need stronger cooperation to fight back, and ensure free and reliable information for all.

Liberal constitutional principles, while taking actions on those two root causes. I also believe that constitutional democracies must defend themselves, through appropriate channels, from rising fascist parties. Getting people fired is counterproductive. Is this an irrational position to hold?

Definitions are arbitrary, but at least to me "Liberal" involves a general belief in democracies, rule of law, etc. Any of the movements I can think of that wanted to achieve left of center economic or social goals that abandoned those beliefs (communism, mainly) are no longer liberal.

Putin’s shame at losing his country without a shot fired is driving this 30+ year old plan to upend the entire world.
That’s why it looks so familiar.
