This is at least partly responsible for the existance of DemoArts. Youtubes encoding algorithm garbles the crap out of the moiré effects and it doesn't look great. So here is an attempt to raise the bar.

I've always assumed that Youtube has had a fixed bitrate they transcoded to, or at least a set target bitrate, resulting in demanding videos looking like garbage. But now that a few DemoArts videos are live, I decided to check and discovered that the bitrate does vary quite a bit between videos.
