both my laptops are limited by their hardware, but just to be on the safe side I have just ordered some cat8 cable to update the backhaul and make sure my infrastructure isn't letting me down. The gateway, switch & APs would do 2.5gbps, but even I'm not that mad on overkill.

Doing an Internet connectivity update. Spent all of the time filming b-roll for this adapter, two sets of cat8 network cables, and troubleshooting. 😄 I think I'm going to pass on doing videos about the modem & router/firewall. Security through obscurity as they say. 😄
What happens when you don't look at the setup guide in detail? You connect both ports on both adapters and DDOS your router even shutting down wifi. Then spend an hour+ trying different cables, plugs, and other troubleshooting. 😮💨🤣👏 The adapter to the switch/router should only have one cable. #tplink

Finally decided to upgrade my network setup. Replaced the old ethernet cables on everything with Cat8 cables, took my old powerline adapter out of service and upgraded to a new model, and the differences are immediately apparent.

ルーターのLANポートが2.5Gbpsに対応したのと、LANケーブルをCAT5→CAT8に交換した記念で測ってみた。
前回、ルーターのLANポートが1Gbpsで、そこがボトルネックになってましたが…解消されてますね。
…あれ？ウチのネット回線、ベストエフォート型で下り上限2Gbpsなんだけど…超える事あるんか🤔

たかがLANケーブルなのにCAT8になった途端にご立派なパッケージに梱包されちゃって…CAT6Aとかは、ビニール袋に入ってるだけなのに()
ケーブル自体もCAT5時代の物と比べると太さが1.5倍くらいになってて、普通にデスクトップPCの電源ケーブル並みの太さ。
その分、硬くて取り回しのし辛さも★MAX！😩

その後、ONU機能付きルーターを9月上旬にアップグレードして、2.5Gbpsの有線LANポートが付いてたのですが…肝心のLANケーブルが100BASE-T時代から使い回し続けてるカテゴリ5のケーブルだったので、この機会にルーター・ハブ・メインPCの間を全部カテゴリ8のケーブルに更新しました。

Bought a 15m cat8 cable for the broadband box, wrapped it around the room opposite me, drilled a hole through the wall to feed it through to the PC to avoid tripping over, cleaned both rooms...
