Shockingly, the U.S. formally rejected reaffirming the SDGs at #CPD58, joining countries like Russia and Iran. We’re standing firm in support of global #reproductivehealth and justice.

Thanks to @fosfeminista.bsky.social for creating the space!
For us this experience has further highlighted the need for 'Global South' collaboration but also leadership, that has the capacity to guide movements across the globe!

#CPD58 ended without a resolution — but not without a clear message.

Despite the lack of formal outcome, a strong majority of countries reaffirmed their support for #SRHR, human rights, and global cooperation.

This week, the #UNPopulation Commission held its 58th session in New York, focusing on how we can work towards ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. German youth delegates to #CPD58 Kepiaya and Sören share their impressions:

The draft outcome of CPD58 has failed to reach consensus. The US, Argentina and Djibouti were among the countries to oppose clauses relating to SRHR due to concerns they would be interpreted as endorsing the universal right to abortion

I've just learnt that the US delegate at the United Nations 58th Commission on Population & Development #CPD58 would not support the CPD statement (www.un.org/development/...), so consensus not possible
