5/ According to the Vladimir Sevastyanov, the head of Bashkortostan's traffic police, the brakes of the Shacman truck failed. Russians are said to commonly believe that the braking systems of Chinese trucks are unreliable, and far less safe than those of Russian KamAZ trucks.

also this is worth seriously considering. car lease/loan payments, gas/electricity, auto insurance, registration, parking passes at work (and/or maybe in your home/neighborhood), and then maintenance like tires, brakes, etc... to say nothing of "scraped a curb, how much will it cost to repair hubs"
people think this isn't feasible but the average american spends ~20% of their income on car-related expenses and in your wildest dreams you can not even imagine how much public transportation that could build
imagine if getting across town was just a totally inconsequential thing you could do without any drama or anything. nobody asks if you paid, nobody needs to see your pass, nobody bothers you at all. you get on, you go someplace, you get off.
