I feel like part of why I passed on the Digitone 2 was because I have a Micro Q and the Noise Engineering Basimilus plugin for FM drums.

I'm leaning hard toward Manis Iteritas, with some consideration (20% chance?) toward Basimilus or one of the FM/PM-based (10% chance?) voices (Toro/Debel).

Perhaps add in a Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter or the like, so you can module the sounds in multiple ways.
I like the Picos, I use Drum and Drum2.
For ultimate flexibility the SD6 algorithm in the Disting Ex, with 6 different samples of your choice to trigger and fiddle with.

Here’s a short video demoing the Basimilus Iteritas Alter drum running through Beads as a reverb/ some granular effects on the sound. So Plaits runs through ZVerb on stereo Channel B and BIA/Beads run mono through Channel B for mixing.

Ok this was a fun patch. Sequencer into Plaits, Seq CV to V/Oct and Seq Gate to Plaits Trggr. Plaits heavily modulated. Basimilus IA sequenced Gate to Trig and CV to BIA Decay. BIA thru Beads for effects. 2 sep audio tracks. 32-step random Euclidean from Pam’s as modulation source. Perfct random
