I haven't used Meshtastic in like a year, just updated my devices, and wow, the new BaseUI in 2.7 is a huge improvement! Better UX and a lot more responsive.

I thought calling refs on reordered components was intended.

I had an issue in beta of v19 when my roving tabindex order broke because list items got reordered but react didn’t call refs or effects for them.

And if I remember correctly libraries like floating-ui and baseui also depend on that.

I had a lot of hopes for MUI's "base" initiative, but holy shit the migration story from MUI to BaseUI is just... terrible.

MUI has some of the worst vendor lock-in I've ever experienced :(

I’m also building type-safe custom elements as a side thing — drawing on BaseUI, Spectrum, and some spicy polymorphism.

Maybe it’s a full dashboard one day.

I just want strong, composable guts for any workflow — good ol’ CSS, Tailwind — whatever helps you ship, friends.
