Yea, because children will just magically forget junk food exists if you make the ads disappear. (And let's not go into how "healthy" food is not exactly affordable.)

I get the "noble" intention somewhat, but what will they come after next? They already went after porn.

"[Most] Americans [KNOW] that the system as a whole is rigged against them."

There, fixed that for ya.

As George Carlin, prophet of the #CosmicJoker said, "it's called the American Dream because you got to be asleep to believe it."

#DivineHumor #ThisIsAmerica #BadEconomy
The last five decades have been marked by an explosion in wealth inequality and a growing distrust of America’s institutions.

Many Americans believe that the system as a whole is rigged against them.

They're right.

Don't be surprised if down the road restrictions on things like cocaine, meth, and speed start relaxing so companies can pass them out to their workers.

I could see Amazon passing these to their warehouse workers to speed things up.

The United States is the perfect example of Capitalism

The richest country in the world with the largest most expensive army.

The most people in prison, the lowest life expectancy, the highest medical costs, the highest murder rate and 60% of people living in poverty

It is a common feature of late empires to only hand out basic benefits to their most brutal servants, with the hope it will stabilize them as a barrier intimidating to keep out the increasingly enraged...everyone else.

It doesn't work. But they try.
Ordinary regular poor people trying to live their lives and raise their children: Can we get a $25k loan from the city to use as a down payment on a home in a nice neighborhood?

Governments: Absolutely not

Cops making about $75k/yr base: Can we

Governments: YES AND YOUR LOAN IS FULLY FORGIVABLE

Meanwhile, in the #BadEconomy. Nice advice though nowadays banks are getting pickier about just cashing checks, even if it is their own check.

Sure there is the check cashing place, but the vulture will want a piece of it.

#HardTimes #ThisIsAmerica
kinda weird how liens are harder to enforce if you insist on being paid in a paper check and not direct deposit, and always go to the bank and cash it instead of ever letting money hit your bank account

real weird. definitely nobody do that. too weird.

Was going to say in snark it's due to all the online shopping y'all are doing but no, they did it by "idling aircraft, shuttering sites and integrating its formerly separate Ground and Express operations."

You know, the usual corporate way.

I often talk about the signs of the #BadEconomy on my #blog and #SocialMedia, but the worst sign of all is the continued increase in basically people begging for money for basics and survival. I am not judging, but I'd say the facts are in evidence and not really in dispute. (e)

This 👇.

In my time in #academia seen quite a few academic cosplayers come and go, among other things.

#BadEconomy #HigherEd #work #jobs #labor
A lot of people don’t want to be academics, they want to cosplay academia (see also living on a farm, being a musician, working with animals, etc.). You need to be honest with yourself about whether your dream is actually about a lifestyle where you don’t have to worry about money.
If you want to have a job in a big university with old architecture where you teach a couple of classes a week and you have a little office with a fireplace and you never have to do anything you don’t think is cool, you are dreaming of having a million dollars, not being an academic

Not to mention the ones out there will gradually become "collectibles" and thus out of reach for the masses. Ugh.
