Classic autumn day in the BC Lower Mainland as a low pressure system allows rain to overspread the region. Expect rain to intensify this PM w/ some gusty winds, particularly near the ocean beaches.

Good morning Victoria BC!

A glorious very late summer, early autumn day. 14°C, a mainly sunny sky, and some shallow fog lurking over Haro & Juan de Fuca Straits.

The winds aloft during the past 48 hours have been lofting #wildfire smoke to the northeast, crossing the Rocky Mountains and following the jet stream. High-probability wildfire smoke returns to the South Coast due to an abrupt wind shift. #BCwildfire #BCwx www.theweathernetwork.com/en/news/weat...

View of Golden Ears today, Fri 5 Sep 2025 on the Left & view on a clear day on the Right albeit in winter.

#BCwildfire & #WAwildfire smoke limiting visibility and resulting in poor air quality across Vancouver & Lower Mainland.

Gradual improvement the next 24hours.

“Smoketember” is here in Vancouver & the Lower Mainland: A combo of smoke & an unusually moist Sep airmass making for murky (sometimes very unhealthy) conditions.

Things look to clear out smoke-wise this wknd as high pressure moves E.

Haven’t done a look-live in a long time… hello from #Lytton BC, narrowly missing 40°C after hitting it yesterday tying the Sep Canadian high temp record only to be beat by #Ashcroft 75km to the NNE hitting 40.8°C today.
Expect things to remain hot the next few days but slowly less so

En route to Lytton, I wasn’t sure which #BCwildfire this #pyrocumulus was associated to… Now certain this is from the #MineCreekWildfire—44km NE of #HopeBC.

Now #BChwy5 / #Coquihalla Hwy closed as a result. The wildfire caused by lightning. Stay tuned to @drivebc-bot.bsky.social
