55 years ago today, Apollo 12 splashed down into the Pacific Ocean and was recovered by the USS Hornet.
The crews of Apollo 11 and 12 were retrieved by this aircraft carrier from the WWII era that fought in numerous Pacific campaigns and is now moored in Alameda.
