One week ago, WashU attended #ABRCMS2024 always an amazing treat. Happy for presence of so many BME colleagues and the opportunity to see Ruha Benjamin in person for first time! Words of wisdom… Deep Learning wo historical or societal context = superficial learning.

Last week, I had so much fun talking about #microbes, #bioinformatics_education, and my Ph.D. experience at @univofmaryland.bsky.social at #ABRCMS2024! I met so many undergrads doing amazing research and faculty who care about building a resilient and equitable research future in biology.

What a week! I’ve been in Pittsburgh for the American Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritised Scientists (abrcms). Still processing everything I’ve learned but I can say with certainty that it’s changed the way I think. Thank you #abrcms2024

It feels great that my first tweet will be about my week in Pittsburgh for #ABRCMS2024 . I’m leaving feeling fulfilled and ready to continue fostering international connections in STEM 😊😌

My @urochester.bsky.social undergraduate student , Ali, had an amazing experience at #ABRCMS2024! He met numerous inspiring individuals and decided to capture those moments on video. Take a look at what he recorded! #URochesterResearch

Highlights from #ABRCMS2024!
I presented my research poster at my first in-person national conference. Had the opportunity to learn a lot about different mentoring methods #mentoringup, hear from diverse scientists about their science journey, and meet new friends!

What an honor it was to share my story at the #ABRCMS2024 conference. Thank you to ABRCMS for the invitation. Giving back to the community that took a chance on me and guided my initial steps in science will always be a priority.

#ABRCMS2024 owes me nothing! Thank you for being a source of inspiration and hope bright enough to carry me through to next year!

I could not be more proud of these two amazing women: I told you to watch out for Kya Foxx last year: here she goes giving a talk and winning! And then introducing Bryona Jackson who you should be on the lookout for; just won a poster presentation award. #ABRCMS2024

Can finally confirm: #ABRCMS in person definitely beats the online early-pandemic versions. I didn't have to travel and I'm still wiped out by so many hours of posters... but there was so much exciting science and so many talented undergrad and postbac researchers! Highly recommended. #ABRCMS2024

My brilliant diverse cohort of #MINDS post-baccalaureates are exactly what I hope the future of science continues to looks like ✨

Both of these students just won a poster award 🥹

I love #ABRCMS2024!
New favorite #newPI experience unlocked: visited an excellent poster presentation and didn’t realize until the end that the person was a trainee of one of my former trainees who recently opened a lab too 🤩🤩🤩

Had a wonderful time at #ABRCMS2024 representing PSU and the Huck Institutes. First time attending but hopefully not my last! I loved serving as a judge and getting to hear the students' enthusiasm for their research. I hope they leave this meeting feeling inspired and so proud of themselves!

Congrats to two phenomenal undergrad scientists, Nathalie Nieto Torres and Sophie LaPeters, who worked in my lab this past summer on their beautiful poster presentations at #ABRCMS2024! They both have an infectious passion for science. We miss them in the lab and can’t wait to see what they do next!
