Heavy rains in Mexico leave 41 dead
Heavy rains across several Mexican states have left 41 people dead, with at least 27 still missing as rescue efforts continue, including Civil Protection and the Army deployed in various parts of the country. The National Guard has kept the aid phase of Plan DN-III-E in Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro and Veracruz due to flooding and river overflows caused by Tropical Storms Raymond and Priscilla. The fatalities are Hidalgo (16), Puebla (9), Querétaro (1) and Veracruz (15). In terms of damage, Veracruz has six municipalities most affected; Puebla 37; San Luis Potosí five; Querétaro seven; Hidalgo thirteen. President Claudia Sheinbaum has held virtual meetings with the National Civil Protection Council and the governors of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí to review progress and update damages and needs. Our solidarity and support to all who have lost a relative; the affected population will not lack for anything. Electricity service restoration stands at 75.24% (241,052 users), with ongoing work to restore service to the remaining 79,331.
