Assassins Creed Origins ("the Egypt one") has a historian mode where you can wander the map and have some narration about various things. It's not bad, and basically exactly that. I dunno if the later games have similar.

Yeah, I did this once, and the motivation was a straightforward "I basically soft-dropped the course due to personal life issues, but hey, maybe I'll get lucky on the exam." Probably if I'd done the math on the marks it'd have been clear it was impossible to pass, but I wasn't calculating that.
