While I reject prison abolitionism, as a feminist, I strongly hold that we can achieve things that no human societies have achieved in the past. (I'm deeply skeptical that we ever had large, complex, non-patriarchal societies).

I have every sympathy with someone who wants to kill their rapist, but none with someone who thinks the best social system for dealing with rapists is to tell victims kill their rapists.

100%, and as you imply, valorization of ”community” is also in tension with thriving urban life, cities including so many people who fled their natal communities.

Exactly. Lots of people seem to deny there can be such a thing as overpopulation, almost as an article of social justice faith, but there is no contradiction between social justice & acknowledging resource limits.

Honestly the Epstein files kinda give an explanation as to why the (elite-led, because basement dwelling groypers didn't do jack shit) backlash against MeToo and "wokeness" was so intense and ultimately succesful.
