I go through some pretty bad bouts of depression and anxiety. A lot of it because of decisions I’ve made that I’m trying to come to grips with. This sweet kitty, Raven, helps so much. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without her.

I got some new toys for Raven. She ignored them for a couple days. And then started not just playing with them. But playing fetch with them. She brings them to me, I throw them, and back she comes. It’s adorable. And always brightens my day, no matter how down I am.

Racism never died. It didn’t come back. It was just quiet for a while. My hometown is in the prologue of the book ‘Sundown Towns: A Hidden Dimension of American Racsim’. A family friend had a clause in their home purchase (early 90s) that they could only sell to white people. (1)
