Man... I know I'm probably never getting back to Cali, and even less likely getting to Disneyland again, but damn... I really wish I could have gone to Star Wars Land.

Man, white dudes really do like talking about how awesome they are.

I know that this isn't a groundbreaking observation, just venting a little bit about what I deal with at work.

There are only so many times I can say "wow" or "that's cool" before it starts sounding insincere.

I've always kinda thought that the pain of diabetes lancets was overemphasized in commercials. Them shits are no joke, though. They just kinda leave an annoying half pain/half itch feeling all day. Like a tiny papercut.

A lot to unpack with "One Battle After Another," but on first blush I think it's brilliant. At the very least I think it captures the total fragility of white supremacy.

People have been sleeping on Caught Stealing, but I think it is a perfect Aronofsky film. A combination of Pi and Requiem with some A-List actors and a script with zero fat. Yes, it's all a bit too convenient, but that's what stories are. Watch it for the acting, but also for everything else.

Trying not to be mad that I'm working and the place is dead and I should be getting ready to go out but I'm just standing here watching this thing do that.

The Long Walk was probably not the best idea to watch after 12 hours on my feet. Good flick, though. I have some issues with it, but I think it might have been one of my favorite King movies.

I'm very late to the game on these, but my most recent viewing of Rocky Horror had me realize a couple things:

1. At the end, Riff Raff and Magenta recreate the American Gothic pose they did at the start.

2. The people ☝️ who decry the perversion of Frank-N-Furter were incestuous.

If there's anything I've learned from my day job, it's that if you show up on Springer in a wedding dress, you're gonna have a bad time.

I've been going through the audiobooks for "Dungeon Crawler Carl" and they've been quite enjoyable. Imagine my surprise and disgust hearing "guest staring The Critical Drinker." To my delight, though, he was absolutely garbage. It's just funny as hell to hear the difference in quality.

This video of Chicagoans intervening to save a man from being abducted off the streets by ICE is making the rounds on Instagram.

Community action works.

I mean... this is nazi shit. These are fascist secret police working for Trump. I don't need to say this. It's blatant and obvious. But, like... there are still people in the US who will see this and applaud it.
ICE just blatantly violated the law and arrested sitting Chicago Alderperson Jessie Fuentes while seeking to illegally arrest a patient in a hospital. Fuck these fascists.

I didn't really think I was going to like the new Toxic Avenger, but it was pretty fun! There were quite a few good jokes, the acting was kinda great, and Elijah Wood was fantastic as always. Worth a watch, for sure.

Watched "Chinatown" for the first time in about 25 years last night. Man, now that I know what I do about Polanski that movie feels much more sinister. John Huston's speech after Gittes confronts him is chilling.

Great flick, though. If you can stomach the Polanski of it all, check it out.

So some old fecker comes in, orders a house red, and proceeds to lecture me on how to do my job. Mainly involving keeping wine fresh. Later, he starts yelling at a regular about France's role in WWI. After he chases out and leaves me $.07, lectures me again...

Just watched Aronofsky's "Pi" for the first time in at least 20 years. Still great. One of the best soundtracks/scores of any film.

I kinda forgot how much my student film ripped it off. Wish I knew how he got some of those shots, though!

Oh, thank god
great news! you're not actually seeing karl rove, john yoo, and david frum criticize the administration's lawlessness more stridently than dem leadership. you, reader, were infected with rabies by a brown bat 36 hours ago and this is all just the virus working its way through your nervous system

If you get a chance, watch Weapons. It's kinda bonkers, and I think I loved it.
It's one of those movies that starts with a premise that seems really kinda crazy and mysterious, but by the end, you're like "ah, yeah, of course." Then the last five minutes happens.
