that requires it being on a different layer and i cant do the same painted look if its on a different layer

this is what happens when i try to do the same thing but putting the shading on a separate layer, the brush CANNOT blend if i do it that way

idk i just need something to get out of this art block. i feel bad i havent made anything in a month because like.. art is the only thing i actually really do. and im not doing it. i cant even take a break bc i literally dont do anything else if i take a break i do nothing and i cant do nothing
