A tale of two VERY different weather stories across the United States today: cold and snowy east, warm and sunny west.
Growing up in Chicago, I'm used to Lake Effect Snow...and I do miss it at times...but right now I'm feeling pretty grateful I live in California😅 @kpixtv.bsky.social

Since Northwest Indiana saw so much snow over the past 24 hours, I had to give my parents (who live there) a big shout out on CBS News 24/7!
But the snow and cold won't last much longer - you'll be back in the 50s/60s with plenty of sunshine later this week and into the weekend!

After some gorgeous November days, another case of WEATHER WHIPLASH is on the way across the Bay. The Aleutian and cutoff low's moisture will merge over the West Coast, bringing on and off rain starting late Wednesday. Rainfall totals are still uncertain, so stay up to date! @kpixtv.bsky.social

Much drier conditions will arrive tonight in the wake of today's storm system. The coast will still be churned up, with beach hazards tomorrow and coastal flood advisories into the weekend. Highs will gradually warm through the weekend - before more rain chances mid next week! @kpixtv.bsky.social

The storm earlier today packed a punch - bringing a 93 mph wind gust to NorCal, and 60+ mph gusts to the Bay Area. It also brought 1"+ of rain to the North Bay and Santa Cruz Mtns, with a stark cutoff between 1"+ areas and the rest of the Bay Area that only received .01-.25". @kpixtv.bsky.social

Opposite sides of the country are dealing with similar weather impacts:
The Pacific Northwest will continue to deal with an atmospheric river through Friday, bringing more winds, rain, and snow.
New England is dealing with clipper storm 2 out of 3, also bringing more winds, rain, and snow.

6 7...I still don't totally understand it, but I hope you all understand that there's going to be a strong storm moving over the Bay Area around 6, 7 AM (hehe, get it?) tomorrow morning. It'll be a quick mover but pack a punch, with gusty winds 60+ mph being the biggest concern. @kpixtv.bsky.social

Two big storms across the country this week: New England will see another clipper storm late Wed - Thurs, bringing strong winds, rain, and snow chances.
West Coast is feeling the effects of an atmospheric river, with the worst impacts through early Wed; get ready for 60+ mph winds and heavy rain.

Enjoy the warm weather inland today before temperatures cool back down to seasonable starting tomorrow. Relatively quiet conditions will stick around through Tuesday before a strong front moves over the Bay Area Wednesday morning - bringing windy, rainy, and cooler weather. @kpixtv.bsky.social

It's been a lovely weekend across California, but BIG changes are on the way as our next atmospheric river approaches. It'll be cooler tomorrow, but the storm won't arrive until late Tuesday. It will be mostly beneficial rain, but gusty winds up to 50 mph early Wednesday will be the biggest issue.

Check out this gorgeous timelapse😍 Did you notice the fog kind of looks like ocean waves? That's because clouds (and the atmosphere in general) are constantly flowing...this is my reminder to you all that the atmosphere is a FLUID, like the ocean, and it moves like one! @kpixtv.bsky.social

There's going to be spectacular weather across the Bay Area for this first weekend of November☀️ Enjoy it while you can, because our next big atmospheric river will arrive mid next week. Flash flooding is possible, but gusty winds will create more issues on Wednesday. @kpixtv.bsky.social

PSA: Don't forget Daylight Saving Time officially ends TONIGHT, which means we will 'fall back' at 2 AM - either get an extra hour of sleep or 'relive' the last hour!
Either way, don't forget to change those clocks and enjoy a lovely weekend, before more rain arrives... @kpixtv.bsky.social

NO NO NO
Meteorologists do not control the weather. As much as I love a good 'thank you', I cannot accept it when it's nice weather as much as I can take the blame when it's bad weather. I am just here to make sure you are all PREPARED for whatever weather heads your way! @kpixtv.bsky.social

When is San Jose's average last 80° day?
Yesterday - October 28th. But the average last 80° day in San Jose in 2025 is 17 days later than in 1970. The climate is changing, it's our job to realize that and figure out how to mitigate the negative effects it has on humans and the planet.

This Halloween's weather is going to be much more treat than trick!
After a bit of a cooler (5-10° drop) and cloudier Thursday, sunshine/warmer weather will return just in time for Halloween. Enjoy the lovely weather through the weekend before rain chances return! @kpixtv.bsky.social

High pressure will continue to bring sunshine over California and much of the western US through midweek, allowing highs to warm to 5-10° above normal. A weak front will cool us down by around 10° Thursday (back to normal) before warming right back up into the weekend! @kpixtv.bsky.social

Melissa officially made landfall in western Jamaica early this afternoon, losing a lot of energy as it did so...but it's STILL a category 4 hurricane with sustained winds 150 mph. It's going to impact the Caribbean through the midweek, bringing catastrophic devastation. @kpixtv.bsky.social

It's going to be heating back up across the Bay Area by as soon as tomorrow...temperatures inland returning to the 80s, with 70s even closer to the coast through Wednesday. Other than a slight cool down Thursday, there's really no weather issues to worry about this week! @kpixtv.bsky.social

How much rain did the Bay Area see from this weekend's atmospheric river? What does that do for the water season so far (October 1st-now)?
It wasn't a whole lot, but in addition to the rain earlier this month some places are up to 400% of normal this far in the season! @kpixtv.bsky.social

SUPER cool timelapse from on top of Black Mountain this morning - it started off as lenticular clouds (the UFO looking ones) then the stratocumulus arrived - and although no rain made it to the ground, there was still a vibrant rainbow (and double rainbow for a second!) @kpixtv.bsky.social
