Congress is under FERS Special, they get 1.7% vice 1%. They also pay more into the retirement than normal FERS. FERS Special comes are other caveats as well.

But she's not eligible to actually receive it until she's 62. AND it will be less than $15,000/yr

Her pension doesn't "kick in" until she's 62. It will be less than $15,000 per year when it does kick in. She's not doing this for the pension.
