Unlike a shotgun, I can only shoot squirrels on the ground or against a thick tree because of the range, but also unlike the shotgun, it damages less of the meat and I think it's good practice for me as a new hunter to train me to aim at vital areas and pay attention to back-stops.

Just a .22! My father has a 1993 Marlin 60 that his father got for him at some point in the past. I just finished my hunting training+certification through my college, so I cleaned it up, got a license, and we got a scope for it and sighted it in.
