Postscript. The first time I heard the term "Not Fit for Purpose" was at a UNODC Consultation at Te Papa in 2008. The subject was the War on Drugs. I see what the right wing did there. They're like AI; appropriate without thinking.

Minister for Transferring Whanau Ora Stormwater Funds to His Own Electorate for a Bridge Chris Bishop explains that this is all about putting downward pressure on rates. That's the logic. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? This is what you get when you get govt based on quarterly KPIs. /rant

The consultation process is a joke from go to woe. There is a three month window for select committee submissions, ending Feb 20. The cunts did the same stunt last year with submissions for the Treaty Principles Bill and some other trash that opened for submissions over the holiday period.

de Cleene won. The old man had honed his political skills in previous elections, such as standing as the Labour candidate in Pahiatua against Keith Holyoake back in the 1960s, before I was born. I digress for a reason. Elwood and Dad got on fine. Michael Cox, the Nat MP for Manawatu was also civil.

I remember the last major reform of local govt in 1989. It was performed by Brian Elwood, who had been mayor of Palmy in the 1981 general election. He was National's candidate for Palmy with my old man as the Labour candidate. Trev's slogan for the campaign; "de Cleene for MP, Elwood for mayor".
