This will be particularly interesting given the last election cycle where her district voted for her AND Trump. In fact, it will be an interesting test for the strains of populism that has been overtaking the citizenry.

I think it will also be entirely contingent on the economic environment.

Agreed. It's a total lack of foresight or perception of value beyond their own quarterly reporting needs.

These are the kinds of situations where I feel these firms should provide at least for a limited period of time some kind of zipped up trove that places like archive.org , or a university department within focus in the particular material or similar can benefit from, rather than just going dark.

Yeah I disagree here. VCs require 10x returns by and large, but as an overall industry historically did much better to create healthy companies then PE ever has. Frankly, PE is nothing but failures for customers and employers, where VCs generally did not. In the last decade however, it's blurring.
