A Potential Tool for Crop Adaptation to Climate Change?

Biodiversity on farms:
Can we move from genetic uniformity to massive genetic diversity within maize crop fields? Could on-site Darwinian selection be a path to crop climate adaptation?

“Multisolving Microwaveable Frozen Meals”:
Could reimagined frozen meal products embody Dr. Elizabeth Sawin’s lessons on finding solutions that concurrently address multiple societal problems?
This thread outlines various problems that frozen meals in the US could potentially address in tandem. 1/x

Plastic packaging waste:
Uncooked chicken pieces (e.g. drumsticks) are sold in US grocery stores packed in a styrofoam tray over an absorbent plastic pad, the whole thing surrounded with plastic cling wrap. The piece count is typically a dozen.
Is there a viable plastic-free alternative?

Can a diversely planted or rewilded “lace of field borders” within US crop lands help restore biodiversity across an enormous land “extent”; while requiring only a modest fraction of each crop field to be transitioned?

When conservation goes viral: The diffusion of innovative biodiversity conservation policies and practices
Despite billions of dollars invested, “getting to scale” remains a fundamental challenge for conservation donors and practitioners. Occasionally, however, a conservation intervention will “go viral,”...

For every crisis there is a choice: to respond to it out of the same thinking that created it, or to respond to it in a way that undermines the thinking that created it.

No-knead sourdough loaf. Baked in Romertopf clay pot in oven. Hard red winter wheat milled with Victorio tabletop grain mill. Also has some sprouted and parboiled wheat berries mixed into dough. Has honey aroma, though no honey is used.

There are about 400 species of Cotoneaster. I think this is C. 'Cornubia'; this specimen has been pruned into a globe and is rather spectacularly laden with fruit. If my ident is correct, it's one of the most popular of introductions by Exbury Gardens (1930).

Interval Walking Training, a walking version of HIIT developed in Japan, appears to have more health benefits compared with 10,000 steps/day. Takes less time, 30 minutes/day, easy to stick with program. IWT great option for those who won’t or can’t do HIIT. m.youtube.com/watch?v=z71a...
