The grunt is borne from historical FGC. Deriving from “aye aye aye” during combos. But folks often associate it as a yipes-ism too.

Personally I don’t do this but I understand why it still exists to this day.

So the “lucky” and “unfortunate” works when delivering the understanding of why that is so.

Lucky breaks, unfortunate circumstances. These are things that happen and you don’t need to reinvent vocabulary to do that. A dropped combo is unfortunate, a fumble or interception is unfortunate.

Consistently being negative pushes people away from what is already a niche genre of game. Hopping on the mic to regurgitate negative phrases or opinions is a surefire way for people to not want to associate with you or work with you.
