📣 Olivia Blake, Climate & Nature Crisis Caucus Chair: “Reducing flood defence spending is not something I would be encouraging any area to do when we’ve seen one-in-100 year flood events happening much more. [Reform] will face angry communities if they do not take the right actions on these issues.”

Spain’s marine protected areas (MPAs) are still being decimated by bottom trawling.

We took legal action last year but Spain has issued more fishing licenses for bottom trawling inside these MPAs since then.

So we’re going back to court with @oceanaeurope.bsky.social to protect these zones.

🇧🇷 The message from Climate and Nature Crisis Caucus Vice-Chair @pippaheylings.bsky.social at #COP30 is clear: solutions to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss, both at home and abroad, must be integrated, people-led, and built on collaboration and consensus.

🌊 This week the #BBNJ’s landmark debate showed what can be achieved when MPs come together across party lines to address the interconnected climate and nature crises, and follows Government commitments to embrace the spirit of the Climate and Nature Bill.

🌿 “You can't buy back biodiversity.” We agree with #CANBill supporter, Neil Duncan-Jordan MP, at the Planning Bill debate. Nature isn't a nice to have, it’s all we have. Restoring nature must be at the centre of the Government's plans.

👏 Great to hear Climate and Nature Crisis Caucus Vice-Chair @chrishinchliff.bsky.social calling for amendment 40 of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill. We agree, nature and housing can go hand in hand—when done right—by putting people and nature above profit.
Nature and housing can go hand in hand.

We’ve seen it in the past with garden cities—and now towns planned within a new forest.

They show what’s possible.

Empower councils to build sustainable council housing that puts people and nature before profit.

🔶 @rozsavage.bsky.social, #CNCC Vice-Chair, on amendment 40 of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill: “Choose clarity over confusion, evidence over ideology. We have the chance to choose a planning system that is efficient and fair—that's good for business, communities, wildlife and landscapes.”

🌍 Thank you to #CANBill co-sponsor and #CNCC Vice-Chair @alexsobel.co.uk—for championing integrated action to tackle the climate and nature crisis at #COP30, and for urging the UK to continue to show leadership, since the decisions made in Belém will shape the future of the planet.

🛢️ Fossil fuel emissions hit another record high in 2025. Governments keep talking #climateaction, but Big Oil keeps on drilling. Yes, solar’s booming in some areas, but fossil fuel interests are blocking the rapid and just transition that we desperately need. #COP30 #CANBill @zero-hour.bsky.social

Carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels are forecast to reach a new high in 2025 but could soon peak.

❗With almost half the world’s population being highly vulnerable to climate shocks, #adaptation isn’t optional. As countries are working towards the Global Goal on Adaptation at #COP30, we urge the UK Government to be bold and fight for the integrated solutions we need to protect people and planet.
Understanding the Paris Agreement's 'Global Goal on Adaptation'
The Global Goal on Adaptation is meant to increase adaptation efforts worldwide and enhance support for the countries most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

I’ve just announced I’ll be leading a National Emergency Briefing on 27 November . At a time when climate is in free fall on the political agenda , it’s vital our leaders realise what is at stake if we do not accelerate a just , green transition for all .

🚨 In 2024, Switzerland's climate policies were ruled to violate human rights. Now @goodlawproject.bsky.social is taking the UK Govt to court to ensure its policies are fit for purpose. Strengthening our targets and integrating our climate and nature plans via the #CANBill would make sure they are.

🔥 Is 1.5°C alive? Although Antonio Guterres warned we have already failed, reports show there is still a path back—if governments actually commit. This is why we need #CANBill: a joined-up, science-led plan to cut emissions and restore nature.

🇧🇷 A great look ahead at #COP30 which, while we remain off-track, will focus on delivery.

But we fear without aligning NDCs to national legally binding targets, as in the #CANBill, we risk falling short. We urge the Govt to lead by example and put our promises into law.

📣 Keir Starmer: “The UK is all in. You don't protect jobs and communities by sticking with the status quo. You don't meet a challenge like climate change by standing still. You do it by embracing change, opportunity, and doing it together.” So why not back the Climate & Nature Bill? #COP30 #CANBill

🌎 António Guterres is absolutely right at #COP30, we agree: “The challenge is immense but the choices are clear. No one can bargain with physics. But we can choose to lead or be led to ruin. Stand with science, stand for justice, stand for future generations.” #CANBill
