Sorry, maybe my experience was not common. I visited Uluru a few years ago and the only stuff available to eat in the nearby town (Yulara) after sundown was that really horrible Chinese stir-fry and some random candy bar
After returning to Melbourne my cousin said, "You have seen the real Outback!"
