It's that kind of day.... hunkered down by the wood stove with the wind howling and the rain spattering the window and I dig down through old photos. This one always reminds me that after the dry summer comes the storms of winter........

Waves upon waves... first there's the streak in the sand where the wave left a maker of where it had been, then it's some wild surf backlit by the sun low in the sky. The sky has only a faint hint of blue, with white streaks of clouds. The sun is low and out of the frame to the left. Perfect for highlighting the turbulent surf. This is MY kind of weather!

Hikers along the beach don't seem to disturb our underrated gulls. Not in the least. Watching the waves roll in. And the beautiful spindrift off the wave tops. Wind playing with waves. Then there are those who sit and wait. A day when the surf was pretty wild. Interesting times without a doubt..

Shades of Vine Maple...

Vine Maple leaves in early autumn starting to turn to subtle colors of orange with quite a bit of green still in waiting. Later, Vine Maple turns to solid orange depending on weather (I imagine, since there doesn't seem to be any other rhyme, reason or pattern to it.) One tree going with two distinct colors of orange or yellow, though there's that one leaf near the top, to the right of center that can't seem to make up its mind. There's the oddball in every crowd. Then there's an explosion of bright, vivid scarlet red. Can't help but love the Vine Maples this time of year.

One tree. Goes through varying shades of autumn yellow to a shy sort of red. Add a little rain to make the leaves shine and some evergreen needles for a backdrop. I definitely feel fall in the air.

I used to put sunflower seeds along the top of the fence. The chipmunks were regular customers, but then this nuthatch started to get brave if I stood there with some seed in my hand. The first time it landed on my hand, what was most startling was how little that bird actually weighed. And those tiny scratchy little claws tickled. I get the phrase "light as a feather" now! It took some time for him to get brave enough to snatch a seed from my hand. But then he DID!!! Back again.

It starts with dark, choppy water with a fishing boat headed toward the harbor, then a sailboat and a spit guarded by a lighthouse. Faint hills are seen on the far side of the water. The sky had turned a pale yellow with clouds drifting above.

Looks like the birds have been taking over, so how about some #GreenSat (for #ColorADay)
and I'd add some #glow for #BlueSkyArtShow
I believe the Dipper is also in this shot as seen in the latest #BOTD challenge below. You'll have to look closely for that one.
What you see here is a soothing creek lit up with sunshine reflecting all the green surrounding it. The green comes from grasses on the bank as well as trees with green leaves overhanging the water as well as lots of rocks, visited by a Dipper as a bonus. *Had to delete a previous "post" because (sigh) I forgot to add the Alt Text. (Again!)
