Behold! My Solar System Christmas tree 🎄
Created 5 years ago, it’s a black tree with hand painted ornaments. Each year I added something new—asteroids from clay, moon ornaments, tree skirt, more stars, and even made it rotate. One year it was my favorite exoplanetary system, TRAPPIST-1. 🔭🧪🐡

The Christmas Tree Cluster, shot in narrowband using my Sky-Watcher Esprit 80ED refractor. I initially processed this in HOO, and then blended in SII data as a shade of green, yielding the gold color you see.

The Christmas Tree Cluster, shot in narrowband using my Sky-Watcher Esprit 80ED refractor. I initially processed this in HOO, and then blended in SII data as a shade of green, yielding the gold color you see.

Today’s image has two objects, IC 417 (left of center) and NGC 1931. Both stellar nurseries similar to the Orion Nebula (M42) but much farther away in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way. NGC 1931 even has a trapezium of stars similar to M42 if you zoom in on the lower light patch. #astrophotography

not to get sappy or anything like that, but recently (especially tn) I've started to realize how important those that I've met over the years in vrc are to me. nothing could ever replace irl interactions ofc, but cherishing the moments I do have with these people when I can, means everything to me.
