Each of the 3 other party members are build around individually too... but they work well together obviously.

Unfortunately, the internet would still be needed for something like steam so I am not sure I could recommend steam deck to get around this... but I would recommend physical copies whenever possible if you have internet accessibility issues.

You miss the days where you can download the game to your device... Using a game key card, downloads the game to your device.
You can also buy a digital version of the same game on the eshop separately.

So I'm still not following how it's that different than other console manufacturers.

But game key cards are physical cards that hold the license to download data. That's why I liken them to discs that require a download.

Physical games that require big downloads have been a thing since the 360 era.

I remember being frustrated with it on my first playthrough. Over time (and a few plays) I actually like both rocket board stages and messing with the mega ball.
