Dante is a great reference point for White Noise

Happy to know I'm not alone

Jay Kelly feels like a big crowd-pleasing conciliatory gesture after White Noise, which is complicated for me, the one person who loved White Noise.

I showed this to my dad (a Forever Changes head) recently and he did not like it

Of course, The Verve and Lush appear on both lists. But not the same album.

Coltrane's shoegaze period would have been wild

Oh interesting, thank you! I made the mistake of replying to one of them out of curiosity, which led to daily follow-up emails

I've been flooded with similar scammy emails recently. Has anyone written about this phenomenon?

I caught that Kings Theatre show described in the piece, and am so glad I did, because it was fantastic and also because I fear Suede might never again tour the US.

To me, the other fascinating facet of that moment is Suede's bizarre career arc—going from the breakout Britpop album of '93 to a polarizing art-rock masterpiece within all of 18 months, and still basically unknown in America.

It's such a fascinating, super-specific cultural moment. A lot of Boo Radleys press in 1993 was like, "Get ready, this is going to be THE band of 1994." And then Oasis kinda changed everything.

My first exposure to the Boos wasn't any of these albums, though. It was their cover of "There She Goes" on the So I Married an Axe Murderer soundtrack.

One of the richest, most rewarding discographies of the '90s—just one incredible album after another

That's right

thank you, friend.
