Hello, here's a brain dump of everything I know about animation performance.

Animating layout isn't always bad. Global CSS variables are a performance killer. Hardware accelerated blurs can crash sites.

But, I couldn't stop there! Now that I had a taste of the ASCII bug, I knew that I needed to make a better tool for making ASCII animation. So, I spent a handful of nights with Copilot spinning up an MVP of my very first app: www.ascii-motion.app (desktop only for now)

What's worse than a bot doing customer support? A human doing customer support only using an LLM to respond.

I recently had such a bad experience with customer support that it literally kept me up at night. I wrote about it:
Customer support is not thriving

An old VR experiment from 6 years ago. I was fascinated by how some bugs could lay eggs in a hex grid without looking, so I tried it myself by sending haptic vibrations to my butt.

Does anyone use Facebook for anything other than Marketplace at this point? I don't but find Marketplace very useful and humbling and wrote about my experience on it:

GSAP is the most comprehensive and capable JavaScript animation library. Now it's completely free for everyone!!

This is great news for the web and for GSAP
🥳 It's an exciting day! 🥳

Thanks to Webflow GSAP is now 100% FREE - including ALL of the bonus plugins like SplitText, MorphSVG, and all the others that were exclusively available to Club GSAP members.

We can't wait to see what you make!

CSS is the hottest new animation library
You may have seen that I used my holiday break to develop my new portfolio; depending on your browser it's 95% powered by the newest css techniques like scroll driven animations and view transitions! 💪 If you see the 🦖, it's (at least partly) powered by GSAP backup animations 😅
