Here in Taipei, the past 24 hours felt like we were literally on shaky grounds with tremors occurring every so often. I can only imagine how challenging life must be for folks living in Hualien, the heart of all these seismic activities since Apr 3. Sending positive thoughts 🙏🏼

This paragraph from today's Quebec Superior Court decision resonates. Paraphrasing it here: Bill 21 sends a message to religious minority students (in fact, to members of religious minorities in general, I would say) that they occupy a different space in society.

Really appreciated the critique of "choice" by the majority of SCC in Fraser. Now, can we please revisit the growing line of case law that rejects immigration status as an analogous ground because it is apparently something that immigrants can "choose"?

Sad day in Taiwan... majority of referendum voters voted against expanding definition of marriage in Civil Code to include same-sex couples. Majority also voted against the implementation of Gender Equality Education Act, which teaches sex ed & gender/sexual equality. :(
