The piece argues that Trump is hugely consequential. On that one point, the piece is unfortunately correct. Trump has shifted the terms of debate for nearly everyone. He has taken full advantage of our democratic system and institutions even as he has railed against them. He was lucky and masterful.

Loved DS9. And I remember the racist backlash against it. A good rule of thumb: if they say racism didn't exist, go back and verify cuz probably it did exist.

Storming the National Assembly was not necessary. They were far too quick to use violence. It evokes military coups, which South Korea is very familiar with. Bottom line, the military demonstrated that its instincts are still authoritarian and still not suitable for a democracy.

Exactly right. Citizens and lawmakers aligned against an incompetent and power-hungry president. Plus political party leaders who do not blindly follow one man.
