The Puyo Puyo series is a story of strong consistency, and by god, some of its stories hit really, really hard.
It’s mostly fun, but when things are allowed to have stakes, you definitely see it.

To me, it's that moment where the mechanics click, and suddenly the world in the game becomes your oyster. So it's a combination of rich mechanics, blended with purposeful exploration and puzzle-solving challenges.
Alternatively, a well-put together setting that becomes the mechanics' foundation.
