The government is preparing one of the harshest anti-LGBT+ laws in its history - criminalising not only gender transition but also public defiance of "traditional" gender norms.

My latest: mailchi.mp/europeancorr...
Türkiye’s ruling AKP party is drafting a contentious modification to the Turkish Civil Code that would severely limit legal gender recognition and punish gender-affirming operations without official consent.

I unpack the PKK’s disbandment, trace how a group long designated as a terrorist organisation ended up in quiet negotiations with the state, and raise questions about whether an increasingly authoritarian regime can deliver real peace.

My story: www.europeancorrespondent.com/r/europes-lo...
The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has formally announced its dissolution following over 46 years of armed strife that has killed more than 40,000 lives.

Thousands protest Erdoğan’s assault on democracy. The unlawful arrest of the Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and dozens of others, is yet another attack on fundamental rights.

S&Ds demand the immediate release of all unjustly detained. Türkiye’s slide into authoritarianism must not go unchallenged!

My colleague Hazar Deniz Eker and I have sought to explain why the European Union has not genuinely reacted to what is happening in Türkiye.
Despite the widespread arrests and violent clashes with protestors, the EU's response was limited to a statement calling on Türkiye to uphold democratic values.
