His legs are so small he'll evolve into a Slow Worm.

What nonsense, the Lib Dems are banging on about Brexit and rebuilding the UK’s relationship with Europe in Parliament and tv studios every sodding week!

Georgia the country, or the US state?

Either clever distraction from the nest behind you, or just showing-off.

Stop and preserve! There's no need to justify, explain or 'finish' it, I find it intriguing and thought-provoking as it is. If you had a vision of what you were trying to achieve then start another version under different conditions.

Male or female bum? - a friend of mine is mildly curious.

A giant musical box with a revolving helter-skelter on top?

Betjeman wouldn't have approved.

…..The consequences for the Lib Dems for the risk they took at the 2015 election were dire.

As for IsraelI politics, that’s only a good guide to British politicians about what to avoid.

“Spine?”
Believe it or not, the LDs went into coalition in 2010 for the good of the country after 3 years of turbulence, not for ministerial perks. They saw what sometimes happens to junior coalition partners in Europe and debated it at length, but did it nevertheless, and that took some courage….

“….should have consequences for the people making them.”

In 2015 the Lib Dems went from 57 seats to 8. 🙄

That’s why the Lib Dems will never go into coalition with the Tories again for the foreseeable future.

I wasn’t a great fan of Clegg, but the unpalatable choice facing him was something or nothing. He saw AV as imperfect but as a possible stepping stone to PR later. In hindsight he chose wrongly. In politics you have to deal with what’s before you, not as you would like the world to be.

Off the top my head the Lib Dems brought the following to government (some in the teeth of Tory backbench opposition): economic & political stability after the GFC fallout, Equal Marriage, Green Investment Bank, Pension Triple Lock, boost to wind power, etc. See Mark Pack’s blog for the full list.

Cameron’s offer to Clegg was either a referendum on AV (which neither he himself nor his colleagues supported), or nothing. The Lib Dems stuck to the Coalition Agreement for the full 5 years but Cameron reneged on it (eg Lords Reform).

Thanks, a fascinating idea, but unlikely?
I spent my first 18 years in Leicester and the local geology is heavy clay. However, maybe the amphorae were placed in the mud of the nearby river to keep the contents cool?

My recently retired GP sister is from the same generation. Frances, you haven’t a clue how hard the medical training was and is and how much junior doctors in the 70s & 80s endured in their early years after qualification. A doctor at the highest level with 40 years of experience is worth >£101,000.

A disgusting betrayal by Trump.

Why does the amphora in the centre have such a narrow base? Did it act like a sump into which impurities could settle, leaving a clear liquid above which could then be decanted?

London’s continued growth is unsustainable (energy, water, congestion, etc). Here in the regions we could make far better use of a fraction of London’s huge budget.

It needs to be pointed out to him that there cannot be “Reform’s next manifesto” because Reform didn’t produce one in 2024.

Deftly put.
