Maybe I am a old fart C++ guy at this point but...

Rust developers, due to the fact that you have "cargo", you make, and use, way too many libraries. They take way too much time and disk space to compile from source every time somebody setup your project.

Feels like npm and js sometimes...

Going to spend a few drops of it to ask Waterman France why did this happen and also to encourage them to reintroduce this product on the market.

Mostly for the bit. But I would be surprised if they don’t respond!

(Yes, this bottle is about 10 years old - so it’s not the newer blue label)

To my great astonishment and horror, I learn that Waterman has seemingly discontinued Waterman Absolute Brown (formerly Havana Brown) ink?

Not that there's no other choices for brown fountain pen ink, but I just have less than half of a bottle of the stuff and wanted a new one...!

Maybe I am not putting the right words in AliExpress, but it seems nobody in china is making small little touchpads one could plug into an arduino or something.

Am I wrong?

I totally did not pay attention to this in the last decade, but France 100% stopped emitting *any* AM radio stations.

In my region if one was to try to tune in to anything with an antique radio, you could get (with difficulty especially during the day) only stuff from the UK, Spain....

I promised film scans, here there are:

This is no alternative to Ektachrome.

Kodak might be unintentionally making a pretty acceptable 50 ISO tungsten balanced "lower" contrast and saturation slide film (with some amount of magenta/green shift)

Again, it's a negative film for planes

E-6 Cross processed Kodak Aerocolor IV (REFLX Pro 100 in this case. It's same film as SantaColor 100 and Elektra 100. Probably other rebrand exist)

Rating it EI 50 (so, box speed +1EV), 85B warming + Skylight 1A filters.

This looks too good to be a hack, like WTF?

Will do real scans later...

Searching stuff inside the scan of a old paper from 1922. The OCR that was used on the PDF read the greek letter gamma (γ) as a 7. Which is slightly annoying when this is a paper about sensitometry.

(Interestingly they use a geometric method of obtaining the gamma, not the analytical one)

iOS 26.1 Beta is suprisingly buggy at least on an iPhone 14 Pro. Camera app often opens to a black screen

Old manual mechanical typewriters in "okay" shape (not fully broken but need some love) are a dime a dozen sure...

But if you are French, and want to find something with a QWERTY keyboard, and that types in Elite fount not Pica (12 characters to the inch, rather than the usual 10) seems impossible

125?! Not my choice as, ISO is a standard. And I should think that 125 is derived by sensitonetry: Develop it to the specified rate, and LogE o, 0.10 density above base+fog is used to calculate arithmetic film speed…

The question should be about EI (exposure index) and not ISO speed…

It was 56 years ago today Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon — a worldwide event that millions tuned into, including me and my brother (even if I did fall asleep). It’s a big reason we became astronauts and a great example of what our country can do when we work together.
