I often wonder how the games industry will look like in 5-10 years when these people will be missing from a recovering industry. Where do game studios think they will find experienced people when they have turned to other fields?

Just playing devil's advocat here. I wished more products would implement more forgiving systems.

I bet companies like Duolingo have data on this that suggests, that the streak system we see everywhere is more effective.

I completely agree with you, I am just assuming that losing some people entirely when their streak is broken, is a price worth paying for how many people stay hooked in return.
