I have given up the need to finish games. I'll play and have a good time with a game. If it doesn't keep my interest until the end, for whatever reason, that's fine. I don't want to pressure myself any more into spending time I do not enjoy cause I feel like I force myself.

I also think that Elden Ring did really well with difficulty options with the amount of npcs/ashes you can use for help and summoning other players.
Not all difficulty options have to be in the settings menu.

I got stuck in dark souls 1 and never found the correct way to progress cause the stupid door to the lower undead burg was hidden too well. Difficulty settings wouldn't have changed a thing. When I returned to the game much later to try again, I looked up a guide.
