She/Her. Parent of one 5yo and a neurotic Lurcher. 39yo. Trans and probably autistic. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈. MNDI.
We tried the small version (London) with our 6yo today which went relatively well, we had him showing us his cards so we could help him and had to deal with about 4 mini-meltdowns but we got to the end of the game.

Frankly I could hug the colleague who greets me with "Hey Iz" each day. My deadname had an incredibly common single syllable shortened version and I really like that people are comfortable enough to treat my new name the same as they treated the old one.

The only thing I'll grant to threads was that for me it was an initial jumping off point as Twitter became unusable and it was while on there that started to realise I was in the "guy who wonders why his timeline is all trans women" meme. The shell held out a bit longer, but the cracks were forming.

The Bond films are just him recounting things to someone else in the pub, like in the Prince of Persia PS2 games. He's just misremembering his own death.

"I can't believe you guys had multiple wars, not just one, multiple; over whether the bread and wine actually turns into flesh and blood. You were just meant to be nice to each other."

Annoyingly, I think I remember this from a Horrible Histories skit where Katharine is trying to assuage Henry's ego by upselling what he just did in France while downplaying Flodden.

Is this what he's doing while Flodden happens? Probably the most consequential victory of his reign and he had absolutely nothing to do with it?

"I shall take your livestock to feed my troops. I might give you some utterly debased and useless coinage for it, but just as a treat you CAN have a wave of plague".

Other than that, England was very much a 2nd rate player in terms of European power, as you've said.

This is why I don't particularly get the obsession with the Tudors. There's the Armada, the founding of the Church of England (it wouldn't surprise me if the obsession was a Victorian hangover relating to this) and Wives Georg, who was a statistical outlier amongst Christian monarchs in that regard.

A whale, Beaumont, a whale. A marine mammal that knows a heck of a lot more about sonar than you do.

He certainly deserves to be offered a George Cross.

It's cynically ideology above everything. Even if we coldly reduce this to the grubbiness of economics, how much does a course of PBs cost compared to say, an ED attendance, an inpatient mental health bed, or an ITU admittance? All things which become more likely as this care is removed.

They couldn't find the pellet at the time (because it had skimmed the outside of the frontal bone and was lodged under the scalp on the other side of the head from the entry point), another one of the reasons we were asked to do a CT scan.

Best one of those I've seen, (being deliberately vague), was the patient who presented with an acute headache and visual disturbances after their friend shot them in the temple with an air rifle from point blank range.
