looks to me like reform uk is trying to become the bsw of its country. while it's great to see perhaps the rise of socialist policy in certain countries' politics, the trend of it going hand- in-hand with conservative social policy and anti-human rights foreign policy is depressing : (

i get the happiness around the failure of the right wing to return to power in canada and australia as of late, but is the success of the centrist liberals and labour worth the failure of the ndp and australian greens? personally, i don't think so. we need actual changes, not 'hey, i'm not trump!'

perhaps slightly controversial opinion:
can we stop with the demeaning nicknames for our political opponents, their voters, and just generally people we dislike? like please no more elmo instead of elon, dump/frump instead of trump, magats, ect.

take a look at the titles of these executive orders and nazi laws. see any similarities? to me, they're uncanny. they both follow the fascist playbook for laws- make them sound like common sense, like things that should be in place, on the surface, while hiding the true intent and impact.

on holocaust remembrance day

I keep going back and forth in my head trying to decide whether all of the parallels I'm seeing to germany in the 1930s are really going to result in a similar outcome or if our different time and place will mean less drastic change- but regardless, the fact that parallels exist at all is terrifying

well apparently according to the government I don't exist anymore since I am neither male nor female!
I mean y'know I'm honored to now be beyond the mortal plane of existence but I really would have preferred to have been informed by mr orange personally, not learned about it through the internet. 🤷

always remember that there is not some unassailable force requiring some to have more privilege, wealth, and connections than others. growing up in a capitalist society may ingrain these ideas about inequality being intrinsic to any society, but this is a falsehood. there can be greater equality!
