Cautiously pessimistic
One of the perks of advancing age is that every birthday reminds you of a (hopefully) memorable - and hopefully impermanent - life

The school stabbing, Zara’s bullies in Sabah, the gang rapes, & the hazing to death of cadets are part of a culture of an enforced hierarchy. These are not crimes of passion but of power. Power is kept in place by violence, immune from consequences. Bully with impunity! Be like our political leaders

You can ban TikTok for under16s but you can’t ban patriarchal misogynistic culture. That’s the dominant culture among Malays, Chinese, and Indians (but maybe not Ibans).

Six million Jews were killed in the Holocaust during the Second World War. How many human beings have since died on the battlefield on this embattled globe, in Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East, Africa and South America? Was it necessary?

The consultation fee to see a GP has been capped at RM35 since 1992. We need to focus on primary health care, like Cuba, which has excellent health indicators

No mention in the Petronas map of the gas pipeline between Sabah and Bintulu, Sarawak. Certainly no mention of the gas explosion that has occurred in upper Lawas, Sarawak.

Half a kilometre gas leak is enough to cause a giant fireball. News reports say Petronas took over 3 hours to shut off the gas valves. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim promised RM5000 for each destroyed home, did not mention any investigations into the cause or those responsible
