Es gibt bei Mint irgendwo ein Tool, mit dem man sehr einfach einen anderen neueren Kernel wählen kann. Vielleicht hilft das. Ansonsten (zum Test) Mal eine andere Distro probieren, die nicht auf Debian basiert. Z.B Manjaroo.

This is no longer required. Firefox fixed the issue by building some code into the browser. Essentially it does the same thing the plugin did.

How did that happen? I still have a subscription from when it was available in Germany, and it says, it will renew on May the 3rd.

There is an adon called user agent switcher. Make Firefox identify as chrome on windows and you are good to go. But I'm not happy with that change.
