Okay yeah I used my custom handle like you said. The behaviour is the same, I get a "Token could not be verified" error while doing "Migrating your repo". Seems like it stalls on importRepo for a while too, so maybe I'll try again later.

Yeah filly.social should be the destination PDS. I tried poking around with breakpoints on the importRepo call (this time with all checkboxes execpt create new account).

Not sure what I should be seeing, I see there's a pdsUrl and serviceUrl. Feels like pdsUrl shouldn't be bsky.network?

Yeah I used PDSMoover to create the account last night, but the migration failed for whatever reason (don't remember the error).

So this time I unchecked the create new account option to finish migrating, but ran into token could not be verified error. Took a closer look and I think somethings up?

PDSMoover is calling checkAccountStatus and importRepo on Bluesky's puffball PDS, which is what I'm trying to leave. But the migration guide raw.githubusercontent.com/bluesky-soci... shows those calls being made to the new destination PDS (filly.social in this case). Am I misunderstanding something.

But only if the user selects the option to log in with a custom hosting provider right? I actually kinda think it makes sense for bsky.app to keep the password field in their default login interface, since Bluesky has "1st party" PDS hosting/sign-up, unlike every other AppView right now.

My submission for e621's Anonymous Fursona Verification (2025 April Fool's). Very topical gag to malign the various online user verification rules being enacted around the world. But honestly I still I can't help but think that some form of user screening should be more common than it is right now.

For the AppView-instances-as-containment-zones concept, I'm optimistic that Relay-level repo takedowns are unlikely. But if worse comes to worst, running my own Relay that only crawls the subset of PDSs that participate in a given containment zone ought to be reasonably trivial.

Approved sign-ups are up 300% this month for baraag, although it has little to do with the social media upheavals lately. I'm actually just experimenting with a new semi-automated approval process for new accounts, since Mastodon's tooling for onboarding new users is stagnant and underdeveloped.

I managed to get a modified Bluesky AppView dev environment running. I changed the namespace of the lexicon from app.bsky to app.purplespace, and it hasn't complained, but I don't know how to test it further.

I'm finding it a bit more challenging to change the namespace of the code for the web app

If I can get one of these crowdfunded for my own personal use, I'll re-do the art with an "age-appropriate" Alice pin-up 🚸

If a user is courteous about applying the content warning label correctly, it will say labelled by author instead, like this
October 18, 2024 at 2:13 AM
Yeah there's a few users who have been posting to Bluesky for months and so they should know better than to publish unlabelled NSFW. You can tell a user is not using the content warning button themself when their post says it was labelled by @moderation.bsky.app
October 18, 2024 at 2:08 AM
They do mention the setting on an official account.

I think a bigger problem are the users who are consistently not labeling their own posts as NSFW. If people here can't get behind this basic courtesy feature, then I don't see why Bluesky should be doing more to accommodate the NSFW use case.

I bought a second-hand ACK-40401 Wacom Wireless Accessory Kit for 10 USD. It was manufactured in 2015, so I expected the battery to be totally dead. However, after letting it charge for a few hours, I'm happy to report that this thing still holds power! It also "Just Works" on Fedora Linux.

DLpay was supposed to be a workaround for insulating the payment processors from having to facilitate objectionable hentai purchases, but they are so fussy that they suspended this indirect purchase system too. I am running out of economical options for supporting my favorite authors on DLsite.

This paper is citing some really weird monthly visitor numbers on fediverse servers. Either mastodon's is underestimated or baraag's is vastly overestimated.

The content policy of baraag is being accurately reported here at least. So the author got one thing right.

When this site still had a waitlist, I was easily in the first few % who signed up to it. They never got back to me. This is fine.
September 17, 2024 at 1:39 PM
The fediverse's "undesirable hentai artist" bubble persists to this day with Baraag and Pawoo (and Misskey) being the single most active Mastodon servers, behind only the flagship server itself. Baraag would be larger if strict rules for signing up weren't implemented to limit growth.

More new gear: I got a wax heater as a gift from my crazy friend. It is for relieving the pain/stiffness in my hand. It's the largest package I have received over international postage. Thankfully, it arrived in one piece and makes my hand feel normal again temporarily 🖐️🌝

Besides the Bluetooth issue, which is Linux-specific, the 8bitdo SN30 Pro is actually really good. My only issue is that when it is awoken from sleep, the joystick directions are slightly off calibration, and need to be swirled a few times to fully calibrate 100%.

Grips are 3D printed (see ALT).

Honestly kind of shocked that there are apparently studios and professional artists that use GNOME for their workstations. I use GNOME all the time but its Wayland shenanigans give me so much trouble sometimes as a Wacom tablet user. They must still be using the old X11 GNOME session.

And I like how you can give them icons. Opportunities for profile personalization is hard to come by in a lot of social media apps these days. Even Mastodon is kind of sterile. I grew up in the deviantArt and Tumblr days and miss those times, so the littlest morsel of customization is nice to have.

This pen holder turned out not to be a good idea, which I kind of expected, but I love the feeling of turning my FreeCAD designs into tangible objects, it's kind of intoxicating 🧊🖨️

I wish I knew how to design 3D printed latching and fastening mechanisms so I didn't have to rely on nuts and bolts.
